I was told a story while at Sydney Royal this year. The quote went like this.
"Those bastards on the Board had better watch out because WE are out to regain control of the Board this year. We are putting together a team that will put them back on track and get rid of that stupid DogsNSW name"
That quote was attributed to Ian Frith a long time friend of one Garry Howie. More on that later BUT it was for this reason that I decided to run for the Board as I am aligned with no-one. I am an independent and saw reason to prevent another faction war. To my knowledge there are currently 4 independents and, if elected I would make 5 being a third of the Board so decisions would be decided by the free thinking independents NOT the factions.
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
Garry Howie has already been elected to the Board and subsequently shown the door by the membership. He now asks you to vote on the platform that finances are in ruin and that he and four others suggest you SEND A MESSAGE to the Board stating the following. My comments in yellow
As a group we are of the view that the current financial situation that our organization
finds itself in can no longer be tolerated.
READ Faction. Five people who will vote the same way no matter what. Lets not forget that the Top Cat in this faction is already on the Board so that would be 6 and then some.
It is time for new ideas and a new direction;
New?? 2 of this faction are sitting directors and one is an ex director and the other two are long standing members. Does anyone really think something new will happen?
We need to make our organization strong again,
so that we may continue to enjoy our wonderful dogs;
I think they mean they want their faction to become strong again. Nothing was accomplished under Top Cat.
We need to encourage our juniors to stay in the sport
after they reach 18 years of age;
OK we can do a hell of a lot more than that but in the time I have been a member we have done little.
We need to encourage the general public to embrace pedigree dogs
so that their future is secured against the ever increasing designer dog trends;
I think they do but we need to properly market the DogsNSW name. I have plans to make it a household name.
We need to continue to fight legislation that would seek to put limits & restrictions
on how we manage & care for our dogs;
WRONG We need to legislate. For too long no-one has figured out how we do this but I propose we become the legislators. Take something to the Government before they force legislation on us.
We need to assist the many Affiliates of this organization in whichever
way we can so that they may continue to run the shows & events that we love
Well we do diddly for them now ......no different than the members. They all pay and really get little in return.
This administration needs to be sent a message;
the members are taking back control.
Who appointed YOU the guardians of the membership? The membership get ONE vote and if they cast the wrong one there will be three years to wait to correct it.

to support a team that will support you.
Which members are they? Those who have voted since inception or those who you are trying to get with Top Cat through your 'Constitutional Crisis' I am sure the team will support their cronies if successful but what about the WHOLE membership with no strings attached? I understand there was a SPECIAL Board meeting called as a result of that and it cost members even more money and y'all run on a platform to improve finances when you are costing us money?
We stand ready and willing to turn this organization around and to secure its future for you, the members.
2 of you are on the Board, one is a failed director and the other 2 have been members for 30 years? Do you really expect us to believe there will be a miraculous change? I appreciate those of you have put in a great effort for the dogworld but this in NOT just about existing as we have been it is about taking DogsNSW into the future with a sound financial plan and providing BENEFITS to members....something no-one has done in all the time I have been a member.
